Issue Position

I support universal, publicly-funded medical coverage. Health care is a basic right, not a privilege only for those who can afford it.

For those who say we can't afford universal health care for Oregonians, on average we spend twice as much as any other country on health care and still rank low against all other industrialized countries on health care outcomes. 30% of all health care dollars go to overhead and profits. That money should be going to save the hundreds of Oregonians who die every year for lack of health insurance, instead of making millionaires out of healthcare CEOs.
